Threads for hand embroidery

Every piece of embroidery starts with thread. The right one holds beads without cutting the fabric, lies flat in a satin stitch and keeps its colour after years on a finished piece.

What we stock

Silk, cotton, wool and metallic threads from long-established European makers: Au Ver a Soie and Fil au Chinois from France, DMC, and Appletons crewel wool from England. Colours are ordered in full ranges, so a shade you used last year can still be matched today.

Choosing the right thread

For tambour and Luneville work a fine, strong sewing thread is essential – Fil au Chinois Fil a Gant and Fils a Coudre are the usual choices. Surface embroidery is worked in cotton or silk floss; crewelwork and needlepoint in wool; metallic threads are kept for highlights, monograms and goldwork.

We ship worldwide from Lithuania (EU). Delivery usually takes 1-3 working days in the Baltics, 5-10 working days in Europe, the UK and the USA, and 5-15 working days to other countries.
