DMC Mouline Etoile
Mouline Etoile is DMC’s shimmer floss: six-strand cotton with a fine metallic filament spun in. The sparkle is subtle – the thread still behaves like cotton, but the surface catches the light as the piece moves.
How it differs from standard floss
It is used exactly like Mouline Special: six strands that separate easily, the same stitch length, the same needles. The difference appears in the finished work, where satin stitch and long-and-short shading gain a soft glow instead of a flat matt finish.
Where to use it
Highlights on flowers and leaves, monograms, festive pieces, snow and water effects, and anywhere a whole motif in metallic thread would be too much. It also blends well with plain cotton in the same needle.
